How Global Cash Logistics Market Is Positioned?
The cash logistics market has its history since the 1850s when Brink’s began operations transporting cash on horse-drawn carts. Brink’s Global Services began in 1959 that provided international transit. The services provided by Brink’s required the company to upgrade their vehicles with weapons as their cash volumes grew till 1960. The company expanded outside US, intro Europe and South America till late 1980s.
By early 1990s, ATM outsourcing began in United States; with companies offering ATM maintenance and repair work in addition to cash handling. Companies expanded their operations globally during this period.
The period also saw introduction of cash automation services for retail businesses. Companies introduced cash machines and recyclers that performed multiple functions of sorting, counting and packing.
As digital banking services grow, Banks are increasingly shutting down branches and outsourcing ATM management, providing an opportunity to companies to expand into new markets.
As digital banking services grow, Banks are increasingly shutting down branches and outsourcing– ATM management, providing an opportunity to companies to expand into new markets.
This trend coincides with rise in cash handling costs for companies, which has driven consolidation as a way of gaining market share in existing markets as well as entry into new markets. Companies are expected to invest in tech related services including cyber security, payment processing and cash management. The global companies such as Prosegur, Loomis among others, have undertaken acquisitions to gain market share in existing markets, enter new markets and diversify their products and services. With declining margins around the world for cash transportation, and growing shift towards retail solutions, consolidation is expected to continue in the future as competition is expected to concentrate among the top few players. There has been a rise in the number of bank branches in developing countries over the years. With the economic reforms & restructuring progress, more international players are getting attracted to enter the banking & financial sector in these countries.
